We assess your symptoms, visual acuity, prescription, intraocular pressure and the front and back of your eyes, including the retina and macula.

How often you need an examination depends on your age, family history, general health and whether you have any symptoms or changes in vision. After your first assessment, the ophthalmologist will advise when you should return.
We usually check your visual acuity, prescription, eye pressure and the different structures of the eye. Depending on your symptoms, we may also perform a retinal examination, OCT scan, visual field test or other diagnostic tests.
Yes. Some eye conditions can progress without obvious symptoms in their early stages. Routine examinations allow us to check your eye health and identify potential problems before they affect your vision.
No. A refraction determines the prescription needed for clearer vision, while an ophthalmology examination provides a broader assessment of the visual system and overall eye health.
Not always. The ophthalmologist will decide whether it is needed based on your age, medical history and reason for attending. Dilation provides a more detailed view inside the eye and may cause blurred vision and light sensitivity for a few hours.
