Good vision is an important part of growing up
Vision develops during the early years, and some conditions, such as refractive errors, strabismus or amblyopia (lazy eye), can go unnoticed. Children do not always know how to explain that they cannot see clearly, so an eye examination can identify potential problems before they become established.
We provide an age-appropriate assessment based on each child’s ability to cooperate, checking visual acuity, refraction, eye alignment and overall eye health. If we find a problem, we explain the options to the family and recommend the most appropriate follow-up.

Amblyopia, or lazy eye, occurs when vision in one eye does not develop properly during childhood. Treatment may include glasses, eye patches or eye drops, depending on the cause and the individual case.
A persistent or frequent eye turn should be assessed by an ophthalmologist. Strabismus can affect how the eyes work together and increase the risk of amblyopia. Treatment may include glasses and, in some cases, other measures or surgery.
Tests are tailored to the child’s age and ability to cooperate. We can assess how they fix and follow objects, eye alignment, visual acuity and refraction, using eye drops when needed to obtain a more accurate measurement.
