YAG laser treatment can address clouding that may develop months or years after cataract surgery. During posterior capsulotomy, a small opening is created to allow light to pass through again and help restore clearer vision.
It is also used to perform iridotomy in patients with narrow angles or angle-closure glaucoma. The laser creates a small opening in the iris to improve the circulation of fluid inside the eye and reduce the risk of sudden rises in eye pressure.
