María García Rodríguez
Hello and welcome. I am María García Rodríguez, an Optometrist, and I have been part of the team at Centro Oftalmológico del Llano since September 2026.
Since I began practising in 2011, I have always believed that Optometric care is about much more than carrying out tests or assessing vision. For me, it is essential to understand each person, listen carefully and provide thorough, personal care focused on their eye health.
Vocation and Approach to Patient Care
My approach combines the human and clinical aspects of Optometry, recognising eye health as an essential part of each person’s overall health.
Direct contact with patients is one of the aspects of my profession that I enjoy most. I believe that good communication, empathy and trust are essential to help each person understand what is happening with their vision and feel supported throughout the process.
That is why I aim to create a welcoming clinical environment where every patient feels comfortable asking questions, resolving any concerns and feeling genuinely heard.
Education and professional career
I hold a Degree in Optics and Optometry from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where I completed my studies in 2011. My professional registration number is 23,235.
Since then, I have worked in a range of Optometry practices, gaining experience in assessing visual function and providing personalised care for patients with different visual needs.

Continuing Professional Development and Specialisation
I believe that continuing professional development is essential in a field that is constantly evolving. For this reason, since completing my studies, I have combined my professional practice with ongoing academic training.
The areas in which I have undertaken further training include Visual Therapy, Low Vision, Clinical Optometry and Contact Lens Fitting.
This training allows me to address each patient’s visual needs from a more comprehensive perspective and work closely with the medical team whenever a case requires a specialised Ophthalmological assessment.
Coordinated Care between Optometry and Ophthalmology
One of the things I value most about Centro Oftalmológico del Llano is the way we work together as a team.
Optometrists and Ophthalmologists work closely together so that each patient receives the assessment and care they need at every stage. When we identify something during an examination that requires the expertise of one of our Specialists, we can work together to provide more comprehensive care.
This approach to healthcare, based on communication between professionals and a comprehensive view of the patient, fully reflects the way I practise Optometry.
My commitment to patients
My aim is for every person who comes into the clinic to feel heard, understood and cared for with the attention they deserve.
Being part of Centro Oftalmológico del Llano allows me to practise within a multidisciplinary team, alongside professionals specialised in different areas of Ophthalmology, all sharing the same goal: to provide every patient with personal, thorough and individualised care.
“My commitment is to listen to every patient, care for their eye health with warmth and professionalism, and help them find, together with the rest of the team, the most appropriate solution for their needs.”
